Hello all!
Before I get into the actual content of this post, I have a couple announcements.
*Cue irritating boy scout song*
We Purple Minds intend to follow a loose sort of schedule in when we're posting things. We each will have a day upon which we shall post whatever we want. We will also post our favorite thought of the week concerning a devotional which we are doing called "Heart of the Matter." And finally we will post our Cunctator Tasks.
The Schedule will look something like this:
Sunday--Heart of the Matter
Monday--Chiaroscuro Sun
Wednesday--Evanescent Pebble
Friday--Firebird
Saturday--Cunctator Task
Fellow PMs, correct me if any of these are wrong.
The Cunctator Tasks or CT (look up what Cunctator means, and you will understand) are weekly assignments on a topic that we will rotate in choosing. Unless otherwise specified, our response may be in the form of writing, picture, object... basically whatever. THE #1 RULE IS: you can't be late. We each must have it done by the meeting. If not, there will be a PUNISHMENT, which shall be recorded and posted here to record the absentee's infamy throughout the generations.
Out of our three responses, we'll pick our favorite and post it here.
And side note, there may be extra bonus posts if we come up with something or other, and we may have to take off weeks by unanimous consent. But for the most part, we'll try and stick with this schedule.
SO for this week's Cunctator Task (or CT), the topic was "Harmony," selected by Firebird, who got put on the spot to start us off. Chirascuro Sun forgot to BRING the response, but it was done, so sorry! No punishment this time. Firebird wrote a very cool thing which hopefully will be seen eventually here. But the favorite response was.... drumroll please...
Evanescent Pebble! With this fabulousness:
(And yes, I'm the one writing this post. Ordinarily it won't contain so much writing, though the selected artist/writer/whateverer has to write a paragraph explaining it.)
I played with various idea for this week's CT, but the idea I kept on coming back to was the idea of order in the midst of chaos. "Harmony" in my mind held a notion of peace, calm, and sweetness. It's when the world, or the music, lines up and just... works. But in real life, that doesn't happen very often... which makes those notes even sweeter. I wrote the poem first. It just sort of happened one night at midnight after a rough day. And once I had it, I knew what I wanted to paint. I liked the idea of tying in chaotic watercolors, and black and white sharpie. And I had to have piano keys in there somewhere. So this happened very quickly. It just worked.
Keep singing in the rain.
